On October 24, a young high school girl went to a homecoming dance thinking she would have the time of her life, walked away with something that she will never forget. The fifteen year old girl from Richmond Union High School went to her school’s homecoming dance with a couple friends, at one moment she was dancing and at the next she was in a dark alley behind her high school. 10 of her fellow
classmates at Richmond Union High School gang raped her while 10 other students watched. A total of 20 people, and no
one stopped or called the police. The young girl was sent to the hospital in critical condition and was just released recently. The case has been posponed and the suspects have been sent home due to lack of evidence. The trial is due back on January 21. The family and friends of this had a very strong yet peaceful message to the community. Instead of going to the media and bashing everything that has been going on, they wanted the community to get one message and one message only. That message was to prevent this horrific accident from happening to anyone else and that message is more powerful then any other words that could have been spoken.
